If the supernatant fluid becomes green brown, a reducing substance is present (the test is positive). If the amount of reducing substance in the stool is <0.25 mg/dL, the test result is normal. If it is 0.25–0.5 mg/dL, the test result is suspicious. If it is >0.5 mg/dL, the test result is abnormal
