The test should be performed in the morning after an overnight fast [8 - 14 hours]. The patient should be sitting quietly and must not smoke during the test procedure.

It should be noted that the frequency of sampling according to the physician can only be 60 to 120 minutes per sample. For the GTT test, sampling is recommended at all times above. However, during the GCT test blood sampling is taken only 60 minutes after the fasting blood sample.
